The two goals on my vision board came to life through the integration of the leadership checklist and my lived experience.
Goal #1
Progress
- I have put sticky notes around my office as prompts to
pause and ask if my message is clear.
- I have been practicing speaking slower and using simpler
words to mitigate miscommunication and language barriers.
What's Next
- A client focus group in Q1 2026 will focus on revising internal
documents to ensure accessible language and explicit
consent are prioritized within my program.
Goal #2
Progress
- In October, I actively sought out education around Diwali and
attended a celebration.
- I have reached out to the Africa Centre in Edmonton to learn
about their services and explore how we can work together.
What's Next
- On December 4, 2025, I have a meeting with Assisted Living and
Social Services to discuss funding and future programming. I will
be asking them how the government plans to support housing for
new comers and exploring ways for my program to contribute.
